Understanding that the DISC Language interprets HOW we act, behavioural observation has proven that the following attributes usually apply to the High D behavioural style.
Employ these cues to assist in quick recognition of the High D.

The easiest way to spot them is through conversation.
High D’s are task orientated and fast Communicators.
They speak in rapid bullet points, almost barking commands.
They dont like chit chat on personal matters, unless they have to so as to get their task done.

Observable Indicators

  • Extroverted / Introverted: Extroverted
  • People Or Task-Oriented: Task
  • More Direct Or Indirect: Direct
  • Over-extensions: Impatient
  • Geared to / Looking for: Results / Efficiency
  • High D Emotion: Anger / Short Fuse
  • Low D Emotion: Slow to anger / Long Fuse

Observable Behaviour

  • Buy: Quick decision makers; new and unique products.
  • Change: Love change.
  • Conflict Response: Response: Fight back.
  • Drive: Fast, always somewhere to get to in a hurry.
  • Decorate an Office: Status conscious, large desk, efficiency.
  • Gesture: A lot of hand movement when talking, big gestures.
  • Goal Setting: Sets many goals, usually high risk and not written down.
  • Letter Writing: Direct and to the point. Results-oriented.
  • Organisation: Efficient, not neat.
  • Read: Cliff notes and executive book summaries.
  • Risk Factor: High risk-taker.
  • Rules: May tend to break the rules. The end justifies the means.
  • Stand: Forward leaning, hand in pocket.
  • Stress Relief: Physical activity, preferably of a competitive nature.
  • Talking on the phone: Little chitchat, to the point, seeking results.
  • Talking to others: Direct. While others are talking may do other activities, as well as interrupt or jump to their next response.
  • Walk: Fast, always going somewhere.
  • Magazine they may read: “Fortune”; “Forbes”; “Money”.
  • Colour noticed first: Green.

Refer often to the cues, until you have a clear picture of the High D style. Any one of these observable cues instantly tell you that you are relating to a High D. you must invest the time learning the language in order to use it effectively.
